ÖVGW - Österreichische Vereinigung für das Gas- und Wasserfach

The Austrian Technical Association for the Gas and Water Industry is the voluntary representation of Austrian gas network operators and water supply companies. It counts all gas network operators and about 260 companies in the water sector among its members. Through cooperation with regional associations, ÖVGW represents more than 1,500 water suppliers. These supply around 80 percent of the population with drinking water.

The ÖVGW represents the interests of its members from both sectors and ensures uniform, recognised guidelines with its body of rules and regulations. It develops training courses according to the latest findings and distinguishes products, persons, and companies for special quality by means of certificates and with the ÖVGW quality mark.

Within the framework of the “Greening the Gas” strategy, the ÖVGW has made it its goal to support the replacement of Austrian natural gas consumption with green gas (biomethane, hydrogen and synthetic methane) with technical framework conditions and research work.
