Schweiz BAFU/BFE

AGCS, together with Hinicio, completed a study on renewable fuel registries in Europe by November 2022. This was done on behalf of the Schweizer Bundesämter für Energie und Umwelt (BAFU & BFE) , which are working in collaboration with Pronovo (settlement agency for the promotion of renewable energy) to establish such a registry for Switzerland. The follow-up study followed the report "State of Play in cross-border exchange of renewable gases in non-segregated supply chains in Europe" completed in July 2022, also authored by AGCS and Hinicio, and Assmann Pfeiffer Rechtsanwälte.

The aim was to identify the challenges for a registry system that is applicable for both mass balancing and book and claim models, depending on the future use of renewable fuels. For this purpose, the Netherlands, Austria and France were chosen as examples and their system landscapes were analyzed.
